Courses :
French as a foreign language - Lyon

Art or Tourism option

Duration  : one academic year, from the beginning of October to the end of May. Beginner to advanced levels available. Maximum number of students per group : 14.

Number of hours per week :

French language  : 20 hrs

Art option : 6 hrs
Art practice in the school studios

Tourism option  : 6 hrs
2h of French for special purposes : tourism related vocabulary.
4h of geography : French regions, places of interest and gastronomy.

All the courses are taught in French.
Placement test on Orientation Day : students are placed in an appropriate class for their level of French. A student may change groups during the year according to language improvement.

The compulsory papers of the TCF exam (Test de Connaissance du Français) are included in the total price. Students also have the opportunity to take the optional papers for which they must pay a fee once there are in France.

International Foundation Course in Art - Lyon

Duration  : one academic year, from the beginning of October to the end of May. French level requirements : intermediate level, TCF minimum level : 3 or equivalent diploma.

Number of hours per week :

French Language : 8 hrs

  • General French
  • French for special purposes : art vocabulary
  • Methodology : techniques for report writing, oral presentations, research, summaries

Western culture  : 4 hrs

  • History of Art : an approach to Western culture
  • Contemporary culture

Art practice : 15 hrs

  • 4 h : plastic expression
  • 3 h : colours
  • 3 h : graphic design and illustration
  • 2 h : fashion design
  • 3 h : interior design : technical drawing

All classes are taught in French.

Placement test on Orientation Day : if students do not achieve the required level in the placement test, they will be placed in a FLE + Art option course corresponding to their level. If they have already studied art and depending on their academic records, they may be able to join the International Foundation Course in Art later in the year if their level in French has improved .

Foundation course in French and Art – Paris, Lyon

For professional certificates in graphic design, fashion design, spatial design and product design.

The course is aimed at university graduates or young professionals with a sound qualification in the field of Arts. It offers students the opportunity to improve their command of the language and discover French and European culture and trends while learning new art techniques.

After the foundation year, students can specialize in the fields of graphic design, fashion design, spatial design or product design.

Duration  : one academic year, from the beginning of October to the end of August

French level requirements : high beginner to intermediate level, TCF minimum level  : 1 or equivalent diploma.

1st semester  :

  • French as a Foreign Language
  • Plastic expression studio course : work on creativity
  • Contemporary culture : cultural life, trends in theatre, cinema, literature and French music
  • Group or individual tutorials

2nd semester  :

  • French as a Foreign Language  : general French and art vocabulary
  • General knowledge : classical and contemporary periods
  • Plastic expression : creativity, developing a personal style
  • Group or individual tutorials

3rd semester  :

  • General French and art vocabulary
  • Methodology
  • Plastic expression and applied art studio course

During the following 4 semesters, students will specialise in one specific field of applied arts : graphic design, fashion design, spatial design or product design, or in art crafts  : restoration and conservation of works of art or photography.

French level requirements : intermediate to advanced level, TCF minimum level : 3 or equivalent diploma.
Exam preparation course for entry into a French art school - Paris
French level requirements : intermediate to advanced level, TCF minimum level : 3 or equivalent diploma.
Fashion design - Lyon, Nancy, Paris

Professional certificate / European Bachelor’s degree
French level requirements : intermediate to advanced level, TCF minimum level : 3 or equivalent diploma.

BTS / European Bachelor’s degree
French level requirements : upper advanced level, TCF minimum level : 6 or equivalent diploma.

International students whose level in French does not meet the requirements for taking the official French degree (BTS) are allowed to attend the course but do not take the final exam. In this case, students receive a Professional Certificate and can also choose to study for a European Bachelor’s degree.

Graphic Design - Lyon, Nancy, Paris
